The Egyptian Society Taunton is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.

This policy explains why we collect personal information and how we use it.
If changes are made to this policy, we will publish the updated version on our website and email or write

to you. Our nominated person for data collection is the Membership Secretary.
How we collect and use your personal information?
Under the data protection rules which came into force on 25th May 2018, we need to inform you of how

we collect and handle your personal data which is collected through our membership application

and renewal process.
a/ Essential contact details (name, address, telephone number(s), and email address) are held
by

the Society and are used solely to enable the Society to contact members with details of forthcoming meetings, planned events and activities and to support the administration of the Society and delivery

of lectures.
b/ By becoming a member you are consenting to your personal details being held to enable us to send

you news of our Society meetings, planned events and activities and to support the administration

of the Society and delivery of lectures. As part of the membership renewal process, members confirm

their continued agreement to our retaining their personal details.
c/ A list of the names of those attending in-person lectures (excluding the lecture which is run in conjunction with the Taunton Literary Festival) and the fees paid is kept for financial and insurance purposes and retained for no longer than is required for these purposes.
The Egyptian Society Taunton will pass information about Ancient Egypt related events and activities delivered by other societies or organisations to those Members who choose to opt in. This would include,

for example, information on relevant activities such as:

other Ancient Egypt Societies,

Kemet Klub Bristol,

courses at Dillington House,

news of Robert Morkot’s courses in Exeter,

information from Lucia Gahlin, Aidan Dodson, etc.

The option to opt in is included on the membership renewal form and the new member application form. Members may opt out at any time by emailing the Egyptian Society Taunton.
How long do we keep the personal information you have given us?
We keep your personal information whilst you remain a member of the Society, and ask you to keep it

up to date, but you can ask for any or all of your details to be changed or removed at any time.

When you cease to be a member of the Society, your details will be deleted from our files.


Who has access to your personal information?
Your personal data is only available to the Committee of the Egyptian Society Taunton.
Your details are never given to a third party or other members unless you have expressly given permission for this to happen.
